Yorktown Museum Info

Founded in 1966, the Yorktown Museum first occupied two rooms in the Davenport House, then in 1970 moved to the Fowler House. In 1976 the Yorktown Museum relocated to its present location on the top floor of the old Yorktown School District 6th grade school at 1974 Commerce Street, currently known as The Yorktown Community Cultural Center.

The Museum is accessible to the handicapped via elevator from the rear parking lot.



Heading SOUTH
Take the Taconic State Parkway to Route 202/35. Turn left (east on Route 202) and continue to intersection with Route 118 ("the triangle"). Proceed straight across. The YCCC building will be immediately on the left.

Heading NORTH
Take the Taconic State Parkway to the Underhill Avenue exit. Turn right onto Underhill Avenue and continue across Route 118 passed the Yorktown Town Hall. Continue through the traffic signal onto Commerce Street. Remain on Commerce Street by turning left in front of the firehouse. The YCCC building is one block on the right.

Special Group Tours
The Museum welcomes group tours from schools, camps, Scouts, civic and social organizations. To make arrangements for your group to tour the Museum, please call the office at (914) 962-2970. There is a minimal charge per person for tours. We try to accommodate your group as to date and time whenever possible. We're booked in advance for special exhibits, so be sure to make your reservations early!

Come Join Us!
The Yorktown Museum welcomes you and invites you to lend your support to the Museum by becoming a member of our supporting organization, Friends of the Yorktown Museum and/or volunteering to join our Docent Staff. Positions include guiding tours, helping in the Gift Shop and conserving and displaying the Museum's artifacts. Training will be provided to make your experience both enjoyable and meaningful. The Museum has a need for anyone with Museum and Grant Writing experience with a little time to spare. If you are interested, please call the museum office for additional information (914) 962-2970.

Donations
All donations (membership and additional) are used to improve the Museum's services and exhibits.

Matching Donations
The Museum benefits twice when a member's employer matches the Friends of the Yorktown Museum Membership Donation or additional donation contribution. Please contact your human resources office for a matching contribution form and send it to the Museum.
